When user invoke AutoComment action on package without sources (even if this package contains other packages with sources) empty (and useless) window is open. I think dialog with a message should be open instead. The message could be like "Package doesn't contain java sources" or "Package doesn't contain java sources. Try on a subpackage" if package contain/doesn't conatin subpackage respectively.
Useless? You can reuse this window as many times as you want.
Yes, window is reusable. But imagine empty editor window into that you can open document(s). Wouldn't be strange? GUI guys, what do you think?
The same you have if your selected sources are read-only. There could be some icon with text "No editable sources".
*** Issue 16955 has been marked as a duplicate of this issue. ***
Formulations like "Wouldn't it be strange" and "There could be" are sort of suggesting that this issue is an enhancement request rather than defect.
Oh, BTW Petr, I'll return the issue into the dirty muds of java team :-)
Target milestone was changed from not determined to TBD
