Netbeans 5.5 dev build 200607190830, entpack 2006/07/21
In XML visual design editor try inputting mbyte characters directly into visual
elements. It does not get saved. Editing elements via properties works fine.

Would you please add some more detail. In the screen shot I am seeing multibyte
characters.
