The description written in the bug is not detailed enough. Do you mean to say
that user is able to type in multibyte character in the inplace editor but when
he presses enter the multibyte value does not get reflected in the UI? The UI
also did not help me in understanding the problem.
Please explain the exact step by step procedure you followed in the design view
to hit this bug. That way it will help me in pin-pointing the issue.
Marking bug as invalid to get the reporters attention.

I mean that when user tries to follow the tooltips of the visual editor (double
click or shift-click to modify the name of this element) - it works only with
ASCII,
if you try to input mbyte characters (in my testcase - japanese) - it does not
get saved when you press Enter, and when you click elsewhere - it reverts to the
previous name. Again if you use English letters the new name gets saved OK.

Just to confirm, you ARE able to type in a multi byte characters. But, the tool
is not SAVING what ever user typed. Is that a correct description of this bug?

Since, I do not have any clue about any I18N issues, any help or hint (from your
past similar experiences) to fix this bug will greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Comment 7 sunlit 2006-09-14 15:28:32 UTC
the issue seems to be platform specific, it does not occur in Solaris,
I am now verifying it on other windows PCs to make sure it is consistent everywhere

We have commuicated separately with Girish on this also and will be adding
more steps to replicate to this issue.

with current builds I am no longer able to reproduce the issue,
however there still remains the necessity to press Enter twice,
and after saving the mbyte IDE freezes for about 10 to 15 seconds, during which
time it is non responsive.
Comment 10 sunlit 2006-09-19 12:18:13 UTC
no longer reproducible in current builds
