There is a requirement to allow natures to define their own views over the project contents which then will be presented as separate tabs in Netbeans explorer. Similar concept was already implemented, so we should revive it and extend to cover current needs.
These are random notes which I remember: - there should be at least two views: Files View and Logical View - natures will need to cooperate on one view (e.g. provide children nodes of the project main node, etc.) - user should be able to customize which parts of view she wants to see (e.g. hide packages node provided by java nature from the Logical View or add some additional node there which is placed by default on some other 'third-party' view). - views can of course support further customization allowing to remove unneccessary levels of node nesting, nodes reordering, etc. - natures can define other views or extend existing (defined by other natures); however extending is preferred to keep the number of tabs in Netbeans explorer small
As described in http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=619519&listName=nbdiscuss the current work on projects prototype has been stopped.
