I have Linux OS on my PC. It is Mandrex 9.0 version. I have downloaded the IDE and the Q build. After download, I did "chmod +x NetBean.....bin" (When I execute "type java", I get my JDK 1.4.1_01 version. Then, I executed the bin file, it says "searching for Java VM", gives few dots and shows the installer screen. However, after that even after 15 minutes, nothing happens! I also tried -is:javahome <path> and same story. Is NetBeans IDE supported on Mandrake 9.0 OS? Thanks a lot. Regards, Raju Datar rajudatar@hotmail.com
Please, be more specific. Which version of IDE is it exactly? If it is version 3.4. then it is known problem. Do you use final 3.4 or developmnet build? If you use dev build specify build number. Thanks.R.

<-----text from duplicate issue------> I downloaded the latest stable release and also the Qbuild of the netbeans IDE. I have installed JDK 1.4.1 using RPM. Now, I renamed one of the libraries based on the search I did. However, installer STILL hangs. The -is javahome <path> does not help. I have used Netbeans on Windows and I would love to have it installed on my Linux (Mandrex 9.0) OS soon. PLEASE help. Raju Datar rajudatar@hotmail.com
OK, what is the latest version of IDE in your case? Is it 3.4 or 3.4.1. If you used Q-build - which number of Q-build? You can avoid installer using archive. You can simply download it and unarchive - it is workaround so lowering priority to P2 (Mandrex 9.0 is not primary supported).
I have tried it with (a) 3.4.1 and (b) Qbuild 200302041521. Also, it was suggested that I download the zip or tar file, untar it and use it. What configuration parameters do I need to set and in which file? If there is a documentation I will go and explore that route as well. Am I the only one with linux (Mandrex 9.0) problem and others were able to use it after deleting the name of just one library that was mentioned? Regards. Raju Datar.
Hi, It looks like you are only one with this problem. What is it Mandrex 9.0? I use Mandrake and installer works fine. If you use archive ususally you don't have to set anything. If you want you can look at <netbeans>/bin/ide.cfg and here you can set -jdkhome <jdkHome_path>. And it is all. Just run <netbeans>/bin/runide.sh and enjoy.
It could be problem with jdk1.4.1_01 on our system. I don't have such problem. Try to use another jdk. Signing as wontfix - I don't have Mandrex 9.0 and it is not supported.
