Product Version = NetBeans IDE 8.2 (Build 201609300101)
Operating System = Windows 10 version 10.0 running on amd64
Java; VM; Vendor = 9.0.1
Runtime = Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM 9.0.1+11

Reproducibility: Happens every time

STEPS:
  * Click on "File>new project" or "File>new file" 
  * Click on button "new project" or botton "new file" 

ACTUAL:
  nothing happens!

EXPECTED:
  message pops up

NetBeans 8.2 does not work with JDK 9. Please use JDK 8 instead and read here for more information: https://jaxenter.com/netbeans/using-apache-netbeans-incubating-jdk-9
