Reproducibility: Happens every time

Just installed IDE 8.2 on my new Windows 10 machine. The IDE seems to install fine, but it is not working. I am unable to do even very basic things like creating a New Project or editing a New File.

Problem disappeared when I used jdk1.8.0_144 instead of jdk9.

Exactly. NetBeans 8.2 is not designed to work with JDK 9. For more information, please see here: https://jaxenter.com/netbeans/using-apache-netbeans-incubating-jdk-9
