Product Version = NetBeans IDE 8.2 (Build 201609300101)
Operating System = Mac OS X version 10.12.6 running on x86_64
Java; VM; Vendor = 9
Runtime = Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM 9+181

Reproducibility: Happens every time

STEPS:
   * This issue is persistent and occurs each time the application is run.
   * Select the Preferences menu or New Project menu.
   * Keyboard command for the aforementioned items.

ACTUAL:
  * nothing appears to happen
  * A notification balloon appears in the status bar.
  * When clicked, the notification panel opens with only the text, "left button" in the center of the text area.
  * With the pointer is hovering over the notification balloon in the status bar, a pop-up indicates the following:
    * You have 1 unread notification
    * Last notification: Unexpected Exception

EXPECTED:
  * Preferences window should open, or the New Project dialog respectively.

WHAT I HAVE TRIED:
  * removing and reinstalling several times.
  * restarting the computer.

NetBeans 8.2 does not work with JDK 9. For more information see:
