Only a minor gripe, but...

Click File > New Project 
Select C/C++ project with existing sources [Next]
Select "Browse"

The open dialog defaults to the user home directory.  Would it not make more sense to set it to the default "projectsFolder" directory as specified in ~/.netbeans/8.2/config/Preferences/org/netbeans/modules/projectui.properties?

This is the most likely place for the project to be found.  (Or at least, it is in my case!)
