Please, try latest stable version of NetBeans (currently 8.1) and always attach your IDE log [1]. From snapshot: IDE is scanning, all time takes JS scanning: org.netbeans.modules.javascript2.editor.index.JsIndexer.index() Reassigning, please evaluate. Simply reopen this issue, thanks. Created attachment 157562 [details] File that make netbeans do looping problem came from a file. if you put the file in your project folder. Netbeans will still hanging on background scanning some parsing issue with netbeans?
Also a new project with only that file make netbeans do looping in "Background Scanning of project"
Thanks for the reproducible case. I'm going to look at this. According to your symptoms it looks like a bug with higher priority.
