The context is a Maven Web project deployed to an IDE registered Tomcat server. I observe that on making changes to a resource file e.g. a HTML document or css file, the IDE copies the file to the target directory automatically, without requiring a manual build / deploy or run execution. I expect this to happen. However I discovered that the IDE does not copy new files (at least under the condition described here). More specifically, the IDE does not copy the files to the target directory if I copy a directory including such files from another project into the web directory of the current project. I use the copy and paste functionality available in the Projects folder. Do you need a test case for this?

I would like to thank the NetBeans team for their amazing work. I hope this comment will find its way to the right people not just Martin. NetBeans 8.1, IMHO has reached a level of maturity and finesse which I have not seen before. For Java developers, it creates a technical advantage through its overall completeness. I now have 100% confidence to recommend it to every developer on every level of expertise from beginner to decades of work in the field.
