Description Taska 2001-07-10 00:41:30 UTC
This is an umbrella issue encompassing the various IZ issues.

Previously, Helm and IZ were separate systems with separate accounts. Now, IZ
is "linked" to SourceCast. Whereas before a user logged into IZ separately from
Helm, now logging into SourceCast automatically logs the user into IZ. In
addition, the IZ account will show the user's email address as
"username@netbeans.org", which is simply an alias to the corresponding
SourceCast account (which forwards email on to the username designated in the
SourceCast account). The possible problems with this are as follows:

1) Users who had IZ accounts but not Helm accounts before the migration now have
no SC accounts, and cannot log into their IZ accounts (as logging into IZ
separately has been disabled).

2) Users who had IZ accounts and also Helm accounts, but using different email
addresses and/or passwords, will not be able to log in in the manner to which
they are accustomed.

3) Users may have multiple IZ accounts now, causing confusion when someone
assigns an issue to one of their 'other' accounts.

4) Users may be confused by the appearance of the 'username@netbeans.org'
address when they use IZ.

5) Users will no longer be able to register for an IZ account from the link on
the Bugs page.

6) Users may have different permissions than the ones they used to have.

Here is what we need to do to resolve this:

1) Remove outdated and incorrect IZ accounts.

2) Create new IZ and/or SC accounts where needed, and verify permissions.

3) Change issues (owner, cc:, etc.) to reflect new accounts.

4) Write a document to educate users about new process.

5) Remove outdated link on bugs page.

6) Verify that new accounts are being created with correct permissions.

Comment 6 Taska 2001-07-11 20:49:46 UTC
The initial list of new sourcecast accounts to be created has been
sent to the developer and the creation process is being tested.

Meanwhile, the list of possible duplicates has been sent to Michael
Boyer and Jack Catchpoole for editing and approval.
Comment 7 Taska 2001-07-14 01:43:14 UTC
Michael Boyer has returned the list of duplicates.

Taska is folding in the duplicates to the two main lists.

The developer is staging the IZ modifications.

When the IZ modifications have been staged, taska will create the new
SC accounts and the operations team will make the IZ modifications on
the live box.
Comment 8 Taska 2001-07-19 05:57:40 UTC
The operations group and the developer will be staging the script
together today (additional info will go to mboyer in an email).
Comment 9 Taska 2001-07-19 15:28:41 UTC
The script has been run on the staging server and the results are
being verified there.
Comment 10 Taska 2001-07-21 21:20:56 UTC
The accounts have been created on the live site, the script has been
run on the live site, and notifying emails have been sent out.
Comment 11 jcatchpoole 2001-07-25 17:24:09 UTC
All IZ account problems should be resolved now.

Anyone still having problems please reopen with details.
