6.1M1 does not offer to import settings from a previous 6.0 installation (only from a 5.x installation).

Product Version: NetBeans IDE Dev (Build 200801280931)
Java: 1.6.0_02; Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM 1.6.0_02-b05
System: Windows XP version 5.1 running on x86; Cp1252; en_US (nb)

Maybe someone can provide a workaround. I'd like to start testing NB 6.1, but only if there's some straightforward way 
to transfer my settings from 6.0.

or just copy the 6.0 setting to 6.1 userdir. Depends what settings you need
