I had left the IDE running in the background, I had gone on to other tasks on my machine, after something between 5 to 10 hour I came back to the IDE to make a few changes to an XML file that had been open over that period. It would allow text to be selected by the mouse but no key presses were affecting the text (I believe I only tried alpha characters and the backspace key so I am unsure if shortcut or function type keys were affected). Now that I am trying to add as many details as I can, I do not think I saw the cursor when I tried to position the insertion point. I do know the keyboard was still functional because I switched to other programs and it received input normally. I did not go that far into investing if their was any workaround as all my work had been saved, after closing and opening it worked fine and I had never had this problem before.
Seems related to bug 126260
I'm not sure what happened, but as guigouz mentioned, it could be related to issue #126260. There were problems when shortcuts stopped functioning in some situations, etc, which should be fixed in 6.1 codebase. Please try it again in 6.1M1 or latest dev build. Thanks *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 126260 ***
