Description Jesse Glick 2007-04-13 20:23:52 UTC
070413. I just selected a bunch of modules to update from various update
centers. When I clicked Update, I got a dialog saying

Welcome to the NetBeans IDE Plugin Installer
Operation cannot be continue [sic] because some plugins cannot complete its
[sic] dependencies.
Broken dependencies:
  module org.netbeans.modules.options.api/0 > 1.3.1
[Cancel]

Not very helpful! Doesn't even tell me which module had the problem, much less
offer to skip just that module.

Really, modules with unsatisfiable dependencies should not be included in the
list to the begin with, or should be listed with a special "broken" icon and the
update checkbox disabled.
Comment 1 Jesse Glick 2007-04-13 20:24:49 UTC
BTW the problem module looks to be:

Netbeans Maven2 project support
UpdateVersion: 2.3.3 Author: The Codehaus Source: Mevenide2 Update Center
CodeName: org.codehaus.mevenide.netbeans Required by: Mevenide2 XML Grammar,
Homepage: http://mevenide.codehaus.org/netbeans/nb-project
Plugin Description
Implementation of a Netbeans project backed by Maven2 POM files.

I don't believe the old AU wizard had this problem. It would warn you when you
tried to add a module to the list, not when you went to download everything, so
you could easily skip over just that module.
Comment 3 Jiri Rechtacek 2007-04-25 14:06:26 UTC
Install wizard now tells you what modules doesn't match its dependencies. If a
display name of required is known then show it as well. I think I can decrease
the priority. Notification that some modules cannot be installed because broken
dependencies will be solved later. I attach it a next one item for next round of
UI review.
Comment 4 Antonin Nebuzelsky 2007-05-08 21:16:26 UTC
Modules which cannot be successfully installed and enabled will not be visible
in the list at all, see issue #103461.

Reassigning to the new "autoupdate/*" owner dlipin.
