When I ooen netbeans I get an error that says java cannot open because it is 
out of memory. IT says a java.lang.OUtofmemory error occured.

Thank you for your report but you are using very old build of NetBeans. Version
3.5.1 is not supported version now. It was designed to work with older Java
version (the problem could be there - you start NetBeans with JDK1.5.0) Please
download later version of NetBeans - the last major release is version 5.5 and
it is available on http://www.netbeans.org
Otherwise if you still want to use version 3.5.1 then run it from command-line
with -jdkhome parameter pointing to any suitable JDK version, that could help.
