I was having trouble with repaints of the screen in the IDE, and the FAQ
suggested turning animated mouse pointers off.

Since I'm a self-respecting proggie who doesn't use animated pointers ;-) I
looked for similar solutions and found that disabling the pointer shadow can
also fix the problem.

Thanks for the note - fixed.  I've added some extra notes
to the FAQ in question.  This will not show up on
netbeans.org for a while since we are moving the whole
FAQ infrastructure to another server, but it is in the DB
and will show up once things are back to normal.
