Installer screen: "NetBeans IDE Setup - Features Setup". 1. Unmark the checkbox "NetBeans IDE 6.0" 2. Expand the root tree node "Runtimes" 3. Mark the checkbox "GlassFish v2..." 4. Collapse the root tree node "Runtimes" Result: User doesn't see, which components will be installed, but warning message "You didn't select..." with red icon will not appear below of component list. The root tree node "Runtimes" should be implemented as a checkbox to show (when a tree is collapsed) whether some components-subnodes are selected or not.
Yes, it's a bit strange you don't see what you want to install. But I think the check box shouldn't be there for the Runtimes label, because I think the decision is not about "I want runtimes" or "I don't want runtimes". It's more about I need this specific runtime and not this one. BTW, thinking about it more there's no real reason for using the tree component. I mean there's no use in collapsing the tree so maybe we should consider using a list.
