Description shieronymus 2006-11-19 00:19:15 UTC
I have been trying to get the Visual Web Pack 5.5 Technology Preview to install
without success.

I currently have installed: JDK 1.5.0_9, Netbeans 5.5 base, Enterprise Pack,
Profiler, and Visual Web Pack. However, the Visual Web project options and the
Visual Web samples do not appear in the New Project dialog, nor does the Derby
Travel database appear in the databases, nor do any Visual Web modules appear in
the Tools->Modules Manager. I have repeatedly tried to uninstall and reinstall
(all the components in various orders), but it does not help. The Visual Web
Pack installation seems to finish ok, but it runs very fast -- I have doubts
that it is copying the entire 75MB the installer says the package contains.

This could be a reinstallation issue, because I had the Visual Web Pack working
with Netbeans at one point (with JDK 1.5.0_6), but then decided to install the
Java EE 5 SDK, and the new JDK update 9. Since then, I have stripped the
computer of Java and the .netbeans* home directories (multiple times), and tried
to reinstall everything starting with the JDK, but the Visual Web Pack modules
do not come back.

I am new to Java and much help is appreciated. Thanks.

There are several things you can check to see if the installation was successful.

1) Look under your Netbeans 5.5 install directory (default C:\Program
Files\netbeans-5.5) to see if a subdirectory named rave2.0 is present. If it
exists and has files (most notably a rave2.0/modules directory with .jar
extension files), then check $installdir/etc/netbeans.clusters to see if
"rave2.0" is listed there.

2) Check $installdir/rave2.0/_uninst/install.log. See if there are any errors
and attach it to this issue.

1) Yes rave2.0 exists -- two jar files
(rave2.0\modules\com-sun-rave-libs-javaee5.jar and rave2.0\modules\ext\mail.jar)

2) Yes, there were errors. File attached.

Uninstalled, deleted Rave2.0 directory, downloaded new copy of
netbeans-visualweb-5_5-tp-windows.exe, installed (had to tell the installer
where Netbeans was installed because it didn't find it).

When did file->new, all of the visual project types showed up (in web and samples).

I sure couldn't get it before, but it seems to be working now. Maybe it was the
new visual exe. However, I installed the old exe on a laptop today with no
problems.

Sorry for the noise.

From the log file, it appears to have been a corrupted executable or some sort
of error reading the installer binary (hard disk read error, OS issues, etc.).
Since it works now, I am closing this issue as resolved.

Hi,

I'm not sure if I should be posting my question here or open an new bug because I'm also having a problem with Visual web pack installation but my details are different. I have jdk 1.8.0_25 and I installed Netbeans 8.1 and downloaded netbeans-visualweb-5_5_1-windows.exe, double clicked it to install the web pack.
First it said that it said "no JDK was found on this system". Then it asked me to open java.exe. So I browsed the file. clicked open and then a new window popped up:
The wizard cannot continue because of the following error: could not load wizard specified in /wizard.inf (104)
WARNING: could not delete temporary file C:\temp\ismp006
WARNING: could not delete temporary file C:\temp\ismp006\3406351
WARNING: could not delete temporary file C:\temp\ismp006\2988104

after the above message i went back to my temp folder and deleted all the temp files it created, but every time i try to run the .exe file, it creats new ismp with 001,002,003 and so on and gives me the above message.

Please help, I need this working asap for my assignment.

THANKS A LOT!
