Please could you tell me what is 'netbeans.keep.expansion'. I tried Google,
search on netbeans.org but no match. Is it documented anywhere??

Anyway, does not sound like P3. It is not default mode of operation. Might be
simple to implement.

Old summary: netbeans.keep.expansion does not work in the favorites view

As the implementation in Favorites is independent of that in Projects it is not
a defect.
