Create BPEL module.
Create variable.
Create Invoke activity
map variable  to activity as input and output variables simultameously.
Rename variable and see source code.
Only outputVariable parameter is changed. The inputVariable parameter is not changed

There was bad suggestion that each bpel element can have only
one reference to other element.
Corrected.
