Description _ alexlamsl 2006-05-12 15:40:30 UTC
1) Create a new UML project and draw some classes / interfaces on it
2) Generate Code
3) After pressing Done, IDE UI is frozen
4) Minimise then restore the IDE window seems to solve the problem

It is actually very dangerous - while the IDE UI seems to be frozen, the user
interactions are actually picked up by the IDE, i.e. if in frustration due to
lack of response I performed a drag of UML elements, after the IDE UI is
recovered I'd discover that my UML project is now in a complete mess!

This is a known problem in Mac OS X on a few other actions other than just
Generate Code. However, this is not a problem in other platforms, unless it's
with a new jdk version like 1.6 that testing has not yet been done. I just
re-tried on Windows XP but not able to reproduce it.
Are you using Windows XP as indicated in Platform and OS?
Which jdk version are you using?

I'm using WinXP Pro (SP2), as indicated indeed. JDK was Mustang b82/83.
Comment 3 Peter Lam 2006-06-01 11:58:43 UTC
Yes, I'm able to reproduce this with jdk 1.6. Looks like there's a common or
same issue in jdk 1.6 as in Mac OS X jdk 1.5.0_06.
Comment 4 Kris Richards 2007-01-04 20:59:47 UTC
this no longer occurs on Mac JDK 1.5.0_07. This is marked as a GRIFFIN_CANDIDATE because it probably
does not exist any longer.
Comment 5 Trey Spiva 2007-01-30 23:02:35 UTC
We no longer use the progress dialog. This solved our hanging problem.
