Description Ch Nguyen 2006-01-10 06:47:09 UTC
Steps to reproduce:
. Set the Input Method by clicking the IM / US flag icon on the Mac system top
level menu bar at the right corner; Then select Hangul (w/ the Korean symbol red
& blue circle). This will automatically puts into "Input by Word" mode.
. Start the IDE, bring up javahelp viewer -> Search; Type 'r h'
. This also happens in most places in the IDE wherever you can input characters.
. The good thing is that the java editor is the only place where the problem
doesn't occur (at least the java editor in Creator works OK).

==> *Only during* the typing process of characters it shows white boxes or
garbage like characters for the keystrokes but as soon as you finish typing the
korean characters are displayed correctly.

Since Korean is a supported locale for Creator, it is strongly desired to be
fixed soon. Thanks.

Milos? Not sure if you can turn on Korean locale on your Mac. See the Creator
bug for screenshots.

cnguyencasj, have you been able to reproduce the bug with 5.0 (as the Version
suggests)? The internal bug report mentions NB 4.1.
Comment 3 Ch Nguyen 2006-01-11 02:22:59 UTC
The problem also exists in NB 5.0 Beta2.

A good news is that I've tried this with jdk 5 on the Mac and the problem does
not exist with that jdk. I also tried on a Mac 10.4 with jdk 1.4.2_09 and it
works there as well. However, the L10N team member who reported the bug
originally can reproduce on her Mac 10.4 system (not sure which jdk version though).

i've tried renaming a project, also the searching in javahelp. Both produced
characters that looked korean.
I have 1.5 JDK + macosx tiger 1.4 (also tried with 1.4.2)

enabling korean showed many input methods, I tried 2-set korean, 3-set korean
and gongjincheong romaja
Comment 5 Marian Mirilovic 2006-01-17 16:09:53 UTC
Could you reproduce this problem with NB 5.0 - RC 1 ?

Please verify, thanks in advance.
Comment 6 Ch Nguyen 2006-01-19 18:17:58 UTC
Where can I get NB 5 RC 1?
Comment 7 Ch Nguyen 2006-01-19 20:54:22 UTC
Thanks Honza for the pointer. The problem still exists in NB 5 RC2.

Again, this problem only occurs on Mac 10.3 w/ jdk 1.4.2_05. It doesn't occur
on Mac 10.4 w/ jdk 1.4.2_09.
Comment 8 Marian Mirilovic 2006-01-19 22:42:09 UTC
Ok, from your last comment it looks like JDK issue - verified
