This Bugzilla instance is a read-only archive of historic NetBeans bug reports. To report a bug in NetBeans please follow the project's instructions for reporting issues.
In the open file dialog, the IDE allows you to make edits to already existing file and directory names. However, once the edit is committed <ie hit cr>, the name reverts back to what it was.
It's been awhile since this problem has occurred, and for the life of me I can't reproduce. At this point I believe that I must have just clicked on another directory or file, and caused a cancel. I suppose this is NOT a bug, just a variance between what is and what is expected. As a side note, there's no warning for changing the name of a read-only file as would be expected. --Sorry to waste your time
Resolved for 3.4.x or earlier, no new info since then -> closing.
