In 20051209, whenever I try to do any CVS operation from the IDE, I get a
strange exception (attached). Same operations work in 20051208.

BTW: when I try to show history on a file I get the same exception, and the
progress bar item "Searching History (Queued)" appears and does not go away.
Selecting "Cancel Process" from the context menu does nothing. I have to restart
to get rid of it.

Removed unnecessary asserts.
