When the wizard for creating a new JDBC resource displays the General Attributes
it puts in a default JNDI Name of "datasource"

To be in better alignment with best practices, it should put in a default of
"jdbc/datasource"

This old bug may not be relevant anymore. If you can still reproduce it in 8.2 development builds please reopen this issue.
