Description jamejia 2005-09-29 23:27:37 UTC
I have unchecked "Expand tabs to spaces" in Tools->Options->Editor->Indentation
menu and set the "Number of spaces to indent" value to 4. While using the
editor, if I press the backspace key to undo a single tab character, the editor
instead of returning 4 (the tab) returns 8 characters.
This happens in the java editor but I guess it may happen for all of the
available editors.

The same problem as in the issue #66187. The 'Number of spaces to indent'
setting is *different* from the 'Tab size' setting. The default value of the
'Tab size' setting is 8. Since the 'Tab size' setting is not easily accessible
people usually mix up those two, which leads to a great confusion.
