I type

someObject.a

and press control enter, and it offers to complete with the "abstract" abbreviation.

AFAIK there is never a time abbreviations are needed if the preceding character
is non-whitespace - we should not include abbreviations in the list under that
situation - otherwise we'll always offer unusable junk at the top of the code
completion list.
