I don't know how to get the IDE into this state, but it is really annoying once it is in it: Sometimes, for no apparent reason, Explorer starts shrinking. Anything that causes the window system to sync its state will make it smaller - click a top component and Explorer gets about 10px narrower; type ctrl-s on a modified file and explorer gets 10px narrower - anything that makes the window system update will trigger it. It stops when Explorer is about 3px wide. If I resize it, it just shrinks again. I don't know exactly what is the cause, but I've reproduced it within minutes of starting using a clean userdir. Here is the state when I just now reproduced it on a clean userdir - possibly some of these things are important: - I already had one project open - Then I dragged Navigator over to the right of the editor. The output window was open when I dragged it there. I did not drop it so the output window would be below Navigator, but so the output window would be to the left of Navigator - so Navigator would take up the whole left side of the IDE window. - After I dragged Navigator, I switched the output window to sliding mode. - After that I created a new Module Suite project - Sometime in between these steps I had opened the Favorites tab - It was after creating the new project that the behavior started - At some point I may have manually resized Explorer by dragging its slider
Moving Navigator back under Explorer fixes the problem.
Passing to Standa, as he is our main expert for winsys layout now.

Was the fix for this not in the beta? I saw it again today setting up my machine for demoing. Thought it was fixed too long ago to not be in the beta. All I did to trigger it was move Navigator over to the left side of the main window.
Yes, the issue is present in 5.0beta.
this was fixed the very next day after beta branching. please use any q-build created past that day instead.
