Today I've installed netbeans-4_1-daily-bin-200504031800-3_Apr_2005_1800 . After first restart (installation, adding modules, restart) NB told me, that it cannot access my Sun Application Server installation (seems, that NB upgrades the configuration during first shutdown). I've tried to add the server again, but I cannot find out why NB doesn't accept my directory. NB: It's *very* inconvinient, that NB always starts in my home directory, as my installation is in C:\programs\Sun\AppServer\ (with Linux I'd probably use /opt/Sun/AppServer, so this is not only a windos problem).
Moving to sunappserv.
Can you verify that the app server installed in c:\programs\sun\appserver is a 8.1 or 8.1 UR1 app server? If it is a 8.0 version, it is not accepted to be a valid one. You can see the version in the server.log when the server is starting...
Starting Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 8.1 (build b28-beta)
Sorry, the 8.1 beta had some issues, and is not supported anymore as well. Make sure you upgrade to 8.1 Update 1, where some specific bugs related to NB4.1 have been resolved. Sorry for the temporary inconvenience. After your upgrade, let us know how it works. Thanks,
Yes, it works now. Thank You for Your help. However, there *must* be a hint for such changes, at least an announcement, better a note on all NB4.1 download pages - otherwise You'll get many users confused at least when the next beta or the first release candidate or some other 'public draft version' is released. Probably a high-priority www issue should be created? Please, close this bug report, after thinking about (and probably implementing) a hint for the server change.
Marking as fixed. Another recent fix (http://www.netbeans.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=46929) emits a error in the log file in this case.
