If I use the Use database or CMP wizard, the jdbc
driver is not registered on the server preventing
deployment.

Use can use the Runtime->Server Regitry->Sun Java System Application
Server->JVMs->Properties from the Runtime tab to add the driver file.

I think this is resolved in 6.0... right?
