Negative user feedback and performance testing has
shown that the performance of code completion
needs to be improved. There is no real statistical
data for measurement to be used at the moment, so
it's rather a perception. Even though the code
completion redesign will be done after 4.1
release, it would be good if some performance
improvements would be achieved till 4.1 release.

I've found almost a duplicate issue on javacore -
http://www.netbeans.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=43284. Is there
anything more that can be done on the side of editor to improve
performance?

Yes, this is a dup of issue 43284. Possible completion improvements on
the editor side would be just nitpicks compared to the mentioned issue.
