Description Petr Blaha 2004-09-23 13:33:30 UTC
Build Beta2 200409220845
Steps:
1) on Directory Panel, select NB's directory with
only read permissions.
Get werning message: NetBeans Installation
Directory. User doesn't know what is the problem
with directory. I suggest to use more explanatory
warning.

How do you set read only folder in Windows? I can set file read only
but not folder.
Comment 2 Petr Blaha 2004-09-27 14:22:43 UTC
For w2k in explorer select desired directory, left-click, invoke
properties panel and select Security tab.

I have test machine with Win XP. There is no Security tab in
Properties both on disk with NTFS or FAT32. Please either help with
Win XP or give me pointer to Win2K machine (directly using email). Thanks.

On Win2K I removed write permissions for installation dir and I get
following error message box:
Error: <Installation dir> is not writable.

I use daily installer build from 14 Oct. Is anything wrong with this
message?

I removed "Create Files / Write Data" and "Create Folders / Append Data"
from e:\tmp\nb and I want to install to e:\tmp\nb\netbeans4.0-dev.

Are you able to reproduce it with daily build? If yes please provide
exact steps how to reproduce.

To be complete I used:
Properties -> Security tab -> Advanced -> View/Edit
