Attempting to install 3.6 IDE on Linux (2.4.9-e.24). 

Installer hangs after confirming the target
directory and size of the install.

This occurs

   + using various SDKs : j2sdk1.4.2,
j2sdk1.4.2_03, and j2sdk1.4.2_04.
   + using the default target directory or another
user-specified directory.
   + Ctrl-\ does not unhang the installer: 'Quit
(core dumped)' appears on stdout and the installer
window remains unchanged.
   + with and without an installed 3.5.1 IDE.

Originally related this problem to Issue 30767,
but was advised to submit new issue.

can you please tell us exactly where the various JDK versions are
installed on your system?  Full paths

It would also help us if you test the 4.0dev nightly build installer.
 We want to know if the problem is still there in the active code line

no new info from the reporter, the new installer for 4.0 has been
rewritten substantially and use ISMP 5/SP3.
