Description _ mihmax 2004-05-10 17:13:28 UTC
Hi, there's a file
javahelp/.../compile/process_descriptor.html
(topic Process Description Property Editor)

in Online Help, but it's not used anywhere
Comment 1 Patrick Keegan 2004-05-10 17:31:42 UTC
I believe this topic is a generic topic for process descriptors, which
is available if there is a process descriptor in the IDE that does not
have a specialized topic.

The topic is not meant to be used in the TOC or index, since it is
only useful if users get that topic when they press the Help button
on that dialog. It is referenced in the map file with this entry:

<mapID
target="org.netbeans.beaninfo.editors.NbProcessDescriptorCustomEditor"
url="compile/process_descriptor.html" />

But it looks like the topic isn't currently used in the standard
distro, since AFAICT the various types of process descriptors each
have their own topics. John, could you take a look at this and decide
what  to do?

Comment 2 _ mihmax 2004-05-10 17:52:08 UTC
OK, Patrick or John, a question for future:

Is it normal to have topics not referenced in TOC or in any other help
topic?
Comment 3 Patrick Keegan 2004-05-10 18:14:18 UTC
Yes. We have a few dozen topics that are only available through F1 or
Help buttons. If a topic only makes sense in the context of a dialog
(i.e. it gives info on what is there but not *how* to do something),
it is better to not to clutter the index or TOC, especially since the
index and TOC already have topics on the "how to" stuff.
