Description clever 2004-04-22 17:25:53 UTC
We are using CVSNT and our users are identified by
domain\username. From within the history
annotation log, the authors are appearing as
"domain\":
Comment 1 Martin Entlicher 2004-04-23 10:06:11 UTC
Hmm, I'm not part of any domain, so I can not test that. You're using
the built-in client, right?
Do you get the same result when using cvs.exe? Or you get correct
domain\username in log when committing via cvs.exe?
Comment 2 clever 2004-04-23 14:40:16 UTC
After switching to the external cvs.exe (compiled for win32), the
problem still appears.

It's worthwhile to note that the commit succeeds and writes the
correct author to the cvs repository. The problem seems to be with the
actual reading of author data within the "History - annotate" view.
hth~!
Comment 3 Martin Entlicher 2004-04-23 15:36:01 UTC
Aha, in such a case it's not a problem of the built-in client, but of
the visualization component.

Moving back to vcsgeneric module, we need to check the code and assure
that the author name is not shortened in any way.
Comment 4 Martin Entlicher 2004-07-14 10:56:55 UTC
Did you check the raw text output of the command? It looks like the
server already sent the user name shortened. It does not seem to be
because of "\" character. When I have user "nb\martin" it displays
"nb\marti". When I have user "notebook\martin" it displays just
"notebook". It shortens the user name to 8 characters.

This is how CVS works => resolving as invalid.
