Well, it's might be converted to RFE, if you like.
If you interrupt and Cancel Installation when
files are unpacked, you've got Installation
Summary like this:

Errors occurred during the installation.

User cancelled installation.

NetBeans IDE 3.6 may have encountered errors
during installation.
Check the install log file below.
NetBeans IDE 3.6 Installation Location:
/usr/local/home/delphym/NetBeans3.6
The J2SDK you chose is below the recommended
version, J2SDK
v.1.4.2. Please upgrade your J2SDK for optimum
performance with
NetBeans.
Installation log:
/usr/local/home/delphym/NetBeans3.6/install.log
To Run the IDE:
 /usr/local/home/delphym/NetBeans3.6/bin/runide.sh

At least the last info: To Run the IDE is not
appropriate.
JDK message? Well, there's nothing bad on it, but 
that wasn't reason why Errors occured during
isntallation. So why printing it there?

This is already fixed in NB 4.0 installers.
