Using gnome 2.2. Netbeans 3.6rc1 When returning to the desktop with netbeans on it I routinely find that the project and or the code editor windows have been minimized. It's a nuisance to have to restore them. wcn
Could you attach your ide.log file? I can't imagine what could produce this behavior - there's nothing in NetBeans that automatically minimizes anything. Also what window manager, and what version of it, are you using? Please describe *exactly* what was the state of windows before switching desktops, and what you find on return, preferably as a step-by-step description of what to do to reproduce the problem.
I think it's easily reproducible at least it happens for with me every change of workspace. I think that user forgot to mention that IDE must be running in SDI mode. For me it seems that windows are minimized when leaving the workspace with IDE. I'm using NB3.6 RC3 on JDK 1.4.2_04, gnome.
Okay. The workaround for now is, don't use SDI mode with multiple desktops in Gnome. IMO, we should not have left SDI mode enablable at all in 3.6 - NetBeans doesn't need it, it was only made available for the native tools folks. My apologies for this problem remaining in 3.6; we'll try to address this for 4.0, or in an update before that.
IMO it's not wise to remove SDI mode from NetBeans, there are users who use only NetBeans IDE just because of SDI mode.
