Files that are read only say "filename (read 
only)" in the editor tabs at the top of the 
editor workspace. Property files do not seem to 
enjoy this feature.

confirmed, it will be fixed in the next release of NetBeans

Fixed - the properties text editor shows [read only] in the tab by 
now.
