Description _ pkuzel 2003-10-20 10:40:20 UTC
What is this dialog for? What is <Library Name>?
What is Provided by for?

Sorry but this dialog seems to be an extra that
can be eliminated. There are Remove/Add operations.
Comment 1 Chris Ledantec 2003-10-20 11:30:44 UTC
this was out of date and has been fixed. it is only a location dialog.
Comment 2 _ pkuzel 2003-10-20 13:02:41 UTC
Still it may be confusing. Remember that you have associated sources
and javadoc with jars. What happens to these?
Comment 3 Chris Ledantec 2003-10-20 13:43:39 UTC
nothing happens. this only edits the location of the Library. the same
dialog (with an appropriate url field) is available for the sources
and javadoc associated with the lib.
Comment 4 _ pkuzel 2003-10-20 13:47:28 UTC
It's suspicious. Then user will have associated invalid sources/docs
with that jar. Is not it really simpler to let user remove old jar and
add a new one (with possibly automatically associated src/docs)?
Comment 5 Chris Ledantec 2003-10-20 13:55:37 UTC
so you don't think that edit should be there at all?
Comment 6 _ pkuzel 2003-10-20 14:15:32 UTC
Yes, at least for live reference (see bellow).

I have seen that it can be used to fix broken reference. Note that
broken references can appear at many other places (e.g. the
sources/javadoc attachement location).

I dream that IDE should hint user once detecting broken reference
advising him to establish a path variable. It needs to be worked out.
Comment 7 Chris Ledantec 2003-10-20 14:24:43 UTC
this happens in the Path Variables dialog already. i'm not sure what
the problem is here anymore... could you restate where the issue is,
given what you know now?
Comment 8 _ pkuzel 2003-10-20 14:40:57 UTC
Now missing just one thing, what user should read instead of <library
name> template.

Comment 9 Chris Ledantec 2003-10-21 10:55:29 UTC
it should be the name of the library -util.jar bob.jar jarjarbinks.jar
Comment 10 _ pkuzel 2003-10-21 12:28:46 UTC
So the jar file name. Why not.
Comment 11 Jan Becicka 2003-11-25 14:21:12 UTC
As described in
http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=619519&listName=nbdiscuss the
current work on projects prototype has been stopped.

Marking issue as CLOSED.
