Description bmelloni 2003-09-03 13:56:46 UTC
O/S: Win 2000
JDK: 1.4.1
CLASSPATH: Not set at O/S level (empty)
JAVA_HOME: Properly set at O/S level
PATH: Has JDK 1.4.1 ahead of others at O/S level
- Install proceeds flawlessly
- When starting app from icon, hourglass goes on
for a second or two, then off. Nothing else
happens, or in other words 3.5.1 is a total dud.
- Attempted install both inheriting and not
inheriting the setting from 3.3.2.
- I tried the JAVA_FONTS fix (mentioned in the
archives for an earlier version that had similar
problem) but it had no effect.
- IDE 3.3.2 still works flawlessly.

Contact me if you need additional details (bruno .
melloni @ nokia . com - remove spaces from email
address).

If the problem cannot be solved, I would welcome a
recommendation for the latest version that works
on Win2000.

Can the submitter verify that this problem still exists using the 3.6
installers. It may not be reproductible with the new installers.
Comment 2 bmelloni 2004-03-02 20:08:50 UTC
Unable to test with 6.0 at this time because I am working on a
critical project at this time and cannot afford the risk of downtime,
but was able to get 3.5.1 to work by downloading the bundle of
JDK+Netbeans from Sun instead of getting Netbeans 3.5.1 and the JDK
separately.
Comment 3 George Hernandez 2004-03-02 20:42:24 UTC
OK, no rush since I believe this is a non-issue with the new installers.
Comment 4 zikmund 2004-04-26 12:09:08 UTC
I think it works with 3.6 installers well -- closing as WORKSFORME.
Feel free to reopen if the problem will arise again, thanks.
