Description philb 2003-07-19 21:51:50 UTC
Downloaded the ExternalEditor.nbm file. Installed
this manually using the update centre wizard. The
(after some hunting -- it's not documented)
launched tools setup wizard to set the editor.

I restarted the system and tried to edit a file.
The GUI stuff works, but the text bit failed. The
text in the log file will be included (I hope I
can add this at the next screen).

I'm not sure what you mean by "the GUI stuff works,
but the text bit failed.". Did gvim start? The
ide.log file shows exceptions during startup, but
that can either mean gvim didn't start or it can
mean it started but netbeans couldn't connect to it.

What version of gvim are you running and does it have
the netbeans support enabled? You can get this info
inside of gvim (or vim) by typeing ":vers". The first
line contains the version number and you can tell if
netbeans is supported by looking for "+netbeans_intg"
(its there) or "-netbeans_intg" (its not there).

You may need to change the default options for the
externaleditor which are really set up for Unix and
X11. The only one absolutely necessary is the
"-nb:localhost:3219:changeme" option. The rest do
things like set up fonts and colors, but do this in
a non-Windows way. Hopefully they're just ignored on
windows but I don't know this for sure as I don't run
on a windows box.
