Description David Kaspar 2003-04-29 10:21:33 UTC
When I try to import settings from 3.5 beta to 3.5
rc1, Import Settings Wizard opens with error
message: Invalid IDE version. NB 3.5 Beta build
was not included in the list of supported versions.

I think we should support to import settings from
3.5 Beta build.
Also if there will be next RC build, it should
support import settings from all previous RC and
Beta builds of NB 3.5.

We should not support import settings from Beta
and RC and dev builds of previous releases (for
example: NB 3.4 Beta) only.

we don't support import settings from unofficial releases, only
official (meaning final) releases like "3.4", "3.4.1" are supported
Comment 2 Martin Balin 2003-04-29 10:37:28 UTC
Originally was Summary: "Import Settings Wizard does not
support upgrade from 3.5 beta to 3.5 rc1" I've changed it
to better reflect what is the agreed behavior and current
NB policy.
Installer should offer settings import only from previous
full versions.

Hmmm that's strange if Installer offer import from this Beta too.

IMHO it's not very nice to our users who decided to involve in
netbeans Beta testing and migrated from their previous version to
NB3.5 Beta. And now they wish to continue using NB3.5beta settings.
Because if not, their current settings will get lost.

Ok, I'll fix it as part of issue 32768 . In fact it is an extension of
that and it is already mentioned that beta and rc shouldn't be detected.

Original issue was fixed. And I tested Richar's own-provided installer
builds and they seem to me fine.
