Build 200303131400 JDK 1.4.1 SDI mode When I copy a Java source file or a form in the explorer and try to paste it - nothing happens. There is not even an exception in the log file. I remember this fault started occurring in the previous Q-build. Closing NetBeans and re-starting usually fixes the problem. I am sorry I canot give more specific information :(
Does it happen often? What is your OS? Only happens to java and form nodes or to all other file type nodes in Explorer?
My OS is Win98. I have only seen this with Java/form nodes - but I don't use any other types so I don't know. With a form, the node that cannot be copied is above the class node and the form node. I have also seen it with simple classes that do not have forms. I use the explorer to copy form components such as labels also but I have not seen the bug there yet. The copying does not even work within the same parent node. If I try between different file systems then it does not work either. It happens always practically. Only if I restart NetBeans then it works. But soon after re-starting it stops working. I use NetBeans all day 7 days a week with a system of more than 1000 classes that have been developed under Netbeens. I have deleted my profile and re-created my projects from scratch so it's faily obvious that it's not related to my configuration. I would suggest that you encourage as many of your team as possible to work in SDI mode (if that is a criterion at all) and keep an eye on it. Please tell me more what I can do to reveal the cause. Maybe you can write a patch for me that traces the bug. I don't know much about release schedules but I think this needs to be fixed in the upcoming release. Why only priority 3? If you copy files for backup purposes and don't check the result as I did then you have data loss.
I tried to copy in Explorer a JLabel from one form to another. That does not work either. Then I copied successfully within the form editor. So it appears it's not the Windows clipboard which I would have noticed anyway. Changed description.

Created attachment 9614 [details] Broken context menu
I found an additional symptom: Whenever the paste action does NOT work, then the paste submenu is missing from the context menu in explorer (refer to attachment "noSubmenu.gif). I raised the priority of this because I already lost files that I thought I had copied. It's not academic, really.
I remember having intermittent problems with pasting for a while, I think after Peter's merge of actions work. I don't think the problems have appeared for me recently. I was never able to reproduce them consistently. But I don't remember the Paste item appearing with no submenu as in the screenshot here; I think it was disabled. So may have been something else.
I've played with Copy/Cut/Paste action on Win98 and it worked for me, so I'm changing P2->P3. It works fine in Explorer and in Form Editor too. If you'll find some 'always working' example let us know, please. I'm really not able to reproduce it. It have no influence if it is SDI or MDI .
With a new build, I have not seen this for a while. So I change this to fixed. Will re-open it if necessary.
It isn't fixed, nobody fix it!
