Default platform should have the same name as newly created platform, which is far more descriptive (compare "default platform" to "Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM, 1.3.1_04-b02").
IMO, the user should be presented with both information - 1. that the project is using the default platform (the same which the IDE is running on) and 2. the identification of this platform. Chris, what should be the format: a. <platform_identification> (default) b. Default Platform (<platform_identification>) any other? Please, mention it in uispec.
do we even need to have a special marking for default? if we go with the descriptive name everywhere then the user will be able to remember the platform based on the name and 'default' doesn't have a special meaning. if we really need to mark default then go with choice a. otherwise leave the (default) text off.
closing. the spec goes with option b. (name bez '(default)').
As described in http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=619519&listName=nbdiscuss the current work on projects prototype has been stopped. Marking issue as VERIFIED --->
