Description dmladek 2002-11-19 10:56:19 UTC
Hello, I'm working on netbeans.org from beggining
and my mine part of job is filling bugs.

So, I imagine that it could be much easier then it
is now.
Simply I'm little bit anoyed when I should enter a
bug for something,
but I haven't had to comapere with something....
good enought
but realy the whole workflow is horribly slow and
inconvenient, IMHO.
At least BUgZilla from Mozill.org save lot's of
steps when you entering/reading/evaulating bug.
So from my point of view you have 2 chices:
migrate to BugZilla back or improve current IZ
and come with new and much usable version....

Dan, you probably know that IZ will be replaced by Scarab,
probably soon (?). If you are not familiar with Scarab,
maybe check out http://scarab.tigris.org/. If it doesn't
look like it includes what you would like to see, please
file (here) some explicit RFE's, ie exactly what you
would like to see ... Collab cannot really do anything with
general comments like "slow and incovenient" - what to
change exactly ?
Comment 2 dmladek 2002-11-20 10:22:13 UTC
sorry Jack and other, I havn't time to finish it yesturday:-(((
So continuing today....
Comment 3 dmladek 2002-11-20 10:46:21 UTC
So, now I'm gonna to describe you how "slow" workflow to enter a bug
I had to procede:
=====================================================================

1) PAGE LOAD: I had to choose a component to which I wish fire a bug

2) PAGE LOAD: now you could enter only 3 fileds of the entry in db
              a description
              a summary
              a CC

3) wanna Attachment?
4) Another 2 PAGE LOAD
5) do you want more attachments?
next 2 PAGE LOAD for each one
6) wanna add KEYWORD? another 2 PAGE LOAD...

result:
=======
Simply for entering ONE bug you have deal with c. 10 PAGE LOADs
and sorry, but it is not always quick (reasons might be everywhere)

And if I just can't do things fast, and even 10s is a delay which
annoys me and I started to read emails or someone interupts me with
other problem... and pagie is still not loaded... simply it's hard to
keep all your mind dirrected to this issue and than it could happen
EXACTLY this that I forget somewhere unfinished partialy written bug
... 'because I wasn't
so patient and dind't wait to another PAGE is LOADED

Do you understand me.... Its's frustrating that for each bug I had
wait 10 PAGES are LOADED with some delay... that means my work, my
mind is still interapted and I could work for 100%...

MY IMAGINE IS: entering bug like writting email...
I could write commnets, Summary, add as many attachments at one time
dirring my writting,
adding people to CC'
Also Possibility to enter a KEYWORD at this one step
would be appreciatable

Simply one "advanced" form for entering bug....
I know it could be confusing from "rare" users, bat for them let's
stay this state, but for people whom entering bugs is their
brad....let's make as less steps as it is possible (because WE ALREADY
KNOW which component has its subcomponent, etc...)

If it would work as I described I then were able to enter 10 times
more bugs as now and maybe developers
would fix much more bigs as they'are already fixing... (maybe)

FOR READING BUG I would be satisfied with bugzilla from www.mozilla.org
Comment 4 dmladek 2002-11-20 10:57:24 UTC
adding keyword:-)

BTW: I don't anderstand why the textare where I could write my
Additional Comments: breakes lines after so few characters:-/

I think line could be wider? (but that's out of range this bug).

Back to Scarab? Tigris?
Jack.... that is "good" joke:-]]]]
---snip---
probably soon (?)
---snip----

I've heard about Scarab/Tigris when we BZ was replacing by IZ... and
that IZ is only "temoraray"
;-)))))) :-(((((
2 years?!?!? Remember, I'm from CzechoSlovakia
and I had very bad experiences what is SOON and what is TEMPORARY....
Only exact dates I'm accpting....

And becaouse it lasts longer then I'm patient so excuse me I'm
expresing How I fell when I have to work with such a tool like IZ.
Nothing is perfect, but maybe my voice could improve
next "SOON" successor of IZ...

that's all from me, I hope you'' accept it
and think about it and how make bugfillers workwlow as easy as it is
possible...
thanks
-Dan
