The Submit Feedback link in the help menu points to an out-of-date link which is rerouted to a general link which has no form for submitting feedback
Patrick, could you provide the correct URL? Thanks.
bookmarks/URLs are defined in utilities module
Sorry, Jirka. I don't know the new URL for feedback. Jack, do you?
This looks like a duplicate of issue 23850. There is no feedback form anywhere (we can't do CGI on netbeans.org). Help | feedback goes to /contact.html, which redirects to devhome/community/index.html; this is as requested in issue 23850. IMHO this URL is probably not best, it should probably be the general contact URL at http://www.netbeans.org/about/os/contact.html Dafe, what do you think ?
Should not I then rename 'Submit Feedback' link to something else?
I agree with Libor. If there is no Submit Feedback form, then the menu item should be changed to better reflect what the bookmark points to. How about Contact NetBeans? Ian, opinions?
How about? - "Give us Feedback" - "Talk to the Developers" - "Join NetBeans"
I have no strong opinions about what the message should be or where the link should point to (seems to be a Marketing decision), but I think the wording of the bookmark should be reflective of the page it brings up. "Give us Feedback" sounds a lot like "Submit Feedback", and neither relate closely to the content of the "Contact" page Jack suggests. "Talk to the Developers" is better, but the Contact page encompasses more than that. "Join NetBeans" would be reasonable if the http://www.netbeans.org/devhome/community/index.html page was used. A compromise between my suggestion and one of Ian's would be to use "Contact the NetBeans Team" and link to http://www.netbeans.org/devhome/community/index.html Ian, I think it's your final call.
OK, I agree "Contact the NetBeans Team" and link to http://www.netbeans.org/devhome/community/index.html is the right one.
Oops, I meant Contact the NetBeans Team and this link http://www.netbeans.org/about/os/contact.html Either link is acceptable, but I think the contact link is a little more accurate (e.g., the page contains links to the webmaster and feedback)
I don't mean to complicate things, and this is definitely not my decision, but why choose the community/index.html page at all ? The *only* "contact" related link here out of the 4 in the box on the right, is to "join lists". For newbies joining a list is not a clear way of contacting anyone. IMHO this will just confuse anyone trying to "contact the team". The normal contact page includes links to joining lists, with more context and info about why you would want to do that, as well as bug report links, feedback@ and webmaster@ links ... Just my HO, please disregard as you see fit :-)
Sounds good.
Grr, last attempt on clarification of the desirable state: action name: Contact the NetBeans Team link: http://www.netbeans.org/about/os/contact.html Jack/Patrick, please reply if you disagree, otherwise let's call this a decision.
Fine with me.
