Norway Today Screenshot

Dark themes (City Lights, Norway Today) bundled with NetBeans appear to display a vertical white background in the left margin of the editor window.

This behaviour is present in a fresh install of NetBeans 8.1 beta 64 bit on Windows 7 Professional 64 bit SP1, with no settings imported from the existing NetBeans 8.0.2 on the same PC.

Screenshot attached shows this behaviour when using Norway Today theme; behaviour is the same using City Lights.

I have the same problem under elementary OS 0.3 64bit, also checked it on manjaro, the stripe appears on every newly opened file, usually disappears after some time... very annoying
