James, can you reproduce this problem if you run NetBeans with an alternate new userdir [1]? [1] http://wiki.netbeans.org/FaqAlternateUserdir
They reappeared when I restarted Netbeans.
I concur. NB 8.2. Suddenly I notice I have no line numbers on my source. The Edit>show line numbers IS checked. Uncheck/check does not fix. Other tabs are showing line numbers. restarting netbeans, or close/reopen that source file re-instates. I have seen this a couple of times now. Don't know what the trigger point is yet.
The same issue occurs when I launch webex and present. The line numbers disappears. I have to restart the IDE for the line numbers to reappear

Solved the problem removing .netbeans/8.2/config/Editors folder. It happened after installing jVi plugin
I've been seeing this problem lately when I leave NetBeans open and unused for a couple hours. I tried deleting my config/Editors folder as caiofior suggested, but the problem returned the same day. As others have reported, the line numbers return after restarting NetBeans.
This happens to me any time I used Remote Desktop to the PC with NetBeans open on it. The next time I am physically on that PC, the line numbers vanish, and I need to restart NetBeans to resolve the issue.
