I have used Netbeans for years and think it is a great project. I have 5 different tabs open across a dual screen setup and I noticed it was no longer updating my list of files in each tab. This is clearly impossible to report as a bug so I decided it was time for a reset.
I used Window->Reset Windows and Netbeans simply closed. I waited for it to reopen, but nothing happened. Then I clicked on my desktop icon and it would no longer come up. Finally I did a log out, log in to clear whatever was bothering it.
I got an 2 error messages that
netbeans/8.0.1/config/Window2Local/Components/evaluator.settings
.../JavadocTopCompnent.settings
were read only. If they are not supposed to be read only, you need to fix this problem. If they are, then there should be no warning message.
In any case, I removed the read only restriction.

I decided to repeat the Window->Reset Windows to see what was happening. It always closes Netbeans and takes a very long time to recover. I think perhaps once it may have come back on its own. Generally I was satisfied just being able to click on the desktop icon again.
In any case, something seems very wrong with this command. Perhaps in my case I have a lot of projects? What can I do, I find Netbeans very useful and I use it. In any case I don't know why it is so slow and so unfriendly, but something seems wrong here.

I would be glad to help in any way that I can. ilan.tal@gmail.com
